1. The Service

MileBento helps you remember trips: capturing, organizing, sharing, and (when you want) publishing or printing them. The service may include Journey creation, selected photo, video, and audio uploads, notes, voice transcription, AI-assisted summaries, collaboration, private sharing, public pages, guide drafts, exports, photo books, paid packs, subscriptions, credits, and orders.

MileBento is a young product, and we expect it to evolve. We may add, change, limit, suspend, remove, or discontinue features at any time. Some features may be experimental, paid, usage-limited, or unavailable in some regions.

2. Who Can Use MileBento

You must be at least 13 years old to use MileBento. If you're under 18, you may use MileBento only with permission from a parent or guardian. You may not use MileBento if the law bars you from doing so, or if we previously suspended or terminated your account for violating these Terms.

3. Your Account

Your account is yours to look after. Keep your password to yourself, keep your contact info current, and tell us promptly if something looks off. MileBento may offer Apple, Google, email, or other sign-in methods, and those providers' terms may also apply to you.

If you create an account in the iOS app, you can start account deletion from inside the app. We may ask you to confirm or re-authenticate so the account is not deleted by accident or by someone else. Where MileBento offers a third-party login as the primary iOS account method, we'll also offer Sign in with Apple, or another option that meets Apple's requirements.

4. Your Content

Your content stays yours. "User Content" means anything you or your collaborators upload, create, save, share, publish, export, or otherwise add to MileBento, including photos, videos, audio, voice notes, typed notes, captions, places, timestamps, recommendations, comments, messages, edits, and Journey structure.

You're responsible for having the rights and permissions necessary to upload, use, share, publish, export, print, or order products based on your User Content, including with respect to the people, places, and third-party works featured in your photos and notes.

5. License for Private Content

For private or limited-audience Journey content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, process, transcribe, summarize, organize, modify for formatting, display, sync, transmit, share with selected audiences, export, print, create service-related derivatives of, and otherwise use your User Content as needed to operate, provide, improve, protect, and support MileBento and the features you use. This license is what allows us to use service providers (hosting, AI, transcription, payments, printing, and so on) to actually run the service.

6. License for Public Content

If you publish content publicly, you give us a broader license to display and distribute it. Public content is also harder to take back.

If you publish content publicly, post a guide, submit content to a public feature, or otherwise pick a public surface, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, process, modify for formatting, display, distribute, index, promote, transmit, preview, and make that content available through MileBento and related surfaces.

Once content is public, anyone can view it, and others may copy, index, cache, quote, save, share, or redistribute it. You may be able to delete or unpublish public content where the product allows, subject to legal, safety, backup, caching, operational, and third-party limitations.

7. Photo Books, Exports, and Other Finished Outputs

If you request a photo book, export, video, PDF, Markdown file, public page, guide, share card, printed product, gift, or other finished output, you authorize us and our providers to process the relevant User Content to create, review, render, produce, fulfill, deliver, improve, and support that output.

You're responsible for reviewing outputs before ordering, publishing, sharing, or exporting them. We're not responsible for content you've approved, including misspellings, missing photos, wrong dates, wrong places, incomplete captions, layout choices, or AI-generated text that turned out to be inaccurate.

9. AI Features

AI in MileBento is a draft assistant, not a narrator. Always review before you share, publish, export, or print.

MileBento may include AI-assisted features such as transcription, note cleanup, summaries, structure extraction, rewrites, guide drafts, export drafts, recommendations, and book drafts. These features work from what you've already captured, and the resulting drafts are tied back to the photos, notes, places, or transcripts they came from.

AI outputs are drafts. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, offensive, or unsuitable for what you have in mind. You're responsible for reviewing and editing AI outputs before relying on them, sharing them, publishing them, exporting them, or ordering products based on them.

AI features are not travel, legal, medical, safety, financial, tax, immigration, or professional advice.

For more on how we handle your data when you use AI features, see Section 7 of our Privacy Policy.

10. Sharing and Collaboration

You decide who sees what. Sharing reveals things, including dates, places, routes, faces, and notes, so think before publishing.

MileBento may let you invite collaborators, create share links, publish public pages, create audience-specific versions, or otherwise make content available to other people. Sharing can reveal personal information, dates, places, routes, your recent location, the people you traveled with, photos, private notes, recommendations, and other sensitive details.

Collaborators may view, contribute, edit, comment, export, or otherwise interact with a Journey depending on their role and the product settings. If you contribute to someone else's Journey, you authorize the Journey owner and us to use your contribution in that Journey, and in any outputs the owner is allowed to create.

We may remove, disable, revoke, or limit access to shared or public content when we reasonably believe it violates these Terms, the law, safety requirements, the rights of others, or product limits.

Where MileBento shows user-generated public or shared content, we may provide reporting, blocking, filtering, and moderation tools. Email hello@milebento.com to report content or users.

11. Acceptable Use and Community Standards

Don't use MileBento for harm, abuse, or illegal activity. Don't break our limits or our systems. On the public and shared parts, please be a decent traveler.

MileBento works because most of it is private by default, and because the public and shared parts of it stay worth sharing. The rules below apply to everything you do on MileBento.

You may not use MileBento to create, upload, store, share, publish, promote, sell, or facilitate:

You also may not access accounts, systems, or non-public areas without authorization; bypass limits, access controls, moderation, safety systems, payment rules, or technical protections; scrape, harvest, crawl, overload, spam, reverse engineer, or interfere with MileBento, except where the law allows; or use MileBento in a way that creates legal, security, safety, infrastructure, or privacy risk.

A few things we'll lean on when something's borderline. MileBento is built for remembering trips, not performing for strangers, so we read public-surface rules with that in mind. Recommendations and guides should reflect places you actually went, not invented or copied without rights. The people in your photos didn't all sign up for an audience: a family share link is different from a public page. Some places ask not to be photographed or geotagged (memorials, ceremonies, sensitive sites, private homes); please honor those requests. And travel opinions vary, so people can disagree about a city, a hotel, or a meal without abusing each other.

12. Storage, Limits, and Availability

MileBento is not a backup service. Keep your own copies of anything you can't afford to lose.

We may set limits on storage, uploads, file sizes, media duration, AI usage, exports, collaborators, share links, public pages, API calls, rates, orders, credits, or other resources, and we may change those limits over time.

We don't guarantee that MileBento will be uninterrupted, secure, available, error-free, or that content will never be lost or corrupted. We work hard to make the service reliable, but we cannot promise perfection.

13. Third-Party Services

MileBento may use or link to third-party services such as app stores, sign-in providers, maps, places data, AI providers, transcription providers, payment processors, print providers, shipping providers, analytics tools, support tools, travel services, booking partners, affiliate partners, social platforms, and websites.

Third-party services are governed by their own terms and policies. We're not responsible for third-party services, products, content, availability, errors, fees, or privacy practices.

Travel information (recommendations, maps, places, routes, prices, hours, availability, booking information) may be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. You're responsible for verifying travel details, safety conditions, visa or entry requirements, local laws, booking terms, prices, hours, and availability.

14. Apple App Store Terms

If you're using MileBento on iOS, the Apple App Store EULA also applies. A few things flow from that:

15. Safety, Copyright, and Takedowns

We may review, remove, restrict, disable, preserve, report, or refuse to process content or accounts when we believe it is necessary to operate or protect the service, comply with the law, enforce these Terms, prevent abuse, respond to rights complaints, or protect users or others.

Email hello@milebento.com to report copyright, safety, privacy, abuse, or takedown issues.

We may filter or block objectionable material, respond to reports, block abusive users, and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, repeatedly infringe rights, create legal or safety risk, abuse the service, fail to pay amounts owed, or use MileBento in a harmful way.

16. Our Rights

The MileBento app, website, design, branding, logos, code, and content we create are owned by us or our licensors. Subject to these Terms, you may use MileBento for personal, non-commercial purposes and other uses we expressly allow. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works from MileBento, except as permitted by law or with our prior written permission.

If you provide feedback or suggestions, we may use them without restriction or compensation.

17. Communications

We may send you service, transactional, security, legal, account, and product messages. We may send marketing messages where the law allows, and you can opt out of marketing. You'll still receive non-marketing messages we need to send to provide MileBento.

18. Disclaimers

MileBento is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that MileBento will meet your needs; that content, AI outputs, maps, places, routes, recommendations, translations, exports, books, or public pages will be accurate or complete; or that the service will be secure, uninterrupted, or error-free.

19. Limitation of Liability

If something goes wrong, our liability is capped at the greater of what you paid us in the last 12 months or USD 100. Some places do not allow these caps, so they may not apply to you.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages; lost profits; lost revenue; lost data; lost content; loss of goodwill; travel losses; booking losses; personal injury; or damages arising from use of, or inability to use, MileBento.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the service will not exceed the greater of USD 100 or the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers or liability limits, so some of the above may not apply to you.

20. Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us, anyone operating MileBento on our behalf, and our affiliates, officers, employees, and contractors harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to your User Content, your use of MileBento, your violation of these Terms or the law, your violation of another person's rights, or your purchases, orders, publications, exports, or shared outputs.

21. Disputes and Governing Law

Before filing a legal claim, please email hello@milebento.com with the subject "Legal notice" and a short description of the issue. We'll try to resolve it informally within 30 days.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the place where we operate MileBento, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you live somewhere with mandatory consumer protections (for example, certain rights in the EU or UK), those protections still apply to the extent they're stronger.

22. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material (meaningfully different rules for your content, your money, or your rights), we'll give you at least 30 days' notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you don't like the change, you can stop using MileBento and delete your account. Your continued use after the update takes effect means you accept it.

23. Contact

For anything (questions about these Terms, support, billing, or legal matters), email hello@milebento.com. As MileBento grows, we may publish dedicated channels for specific topics, and we'll update this page when we do.
